Test Procedure
- If vehicle is equipped with manual transaxle, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with automatic transaxle, go to step 3 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM 81-pin connector. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and ECM connector terminal No. 78 (Black/Yellow e wire). Resistance should be infinite. If resistance is as specified, problem is intermittent, check for possible poor connection at ECM connector terminals, repair if necessary and go to step 4 . If resistance is not as specified, repair short circuit as necessary. See SPECTRA in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. After repair go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM 81-pin connector. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and ECM connector terminal No. 78 (Black/Yellow e wire). Resistance should be below one ohm. If resistance is as specified, problem is intermittent, check for possible poor connection at ECM connector terminals, repair if necessary and go to step 4 . If resistance is not as specified, repair open circuit as necessary. See SPECTRA in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. After repair go to step 4 .
- After repair, return vehicle to original condition. Clear codes using Hi-Scan Pro/Kia Data Pro Scan tool or equivalent. Verify repairs by driving vehicle and monitoring for pending codes. If DTC is set during test drive, follow appropriate DTC test procedure.
