Magnetic Switch Hold-In Test

  1. Disconnect field coil wire from the M-terminal of the magnetic switch.
  2. Connect a 12V battery between the S-terminal and the body
  3. Connect the field coil wire to the M-terminal, and then disconnect it.
    NOTE: This test must be performed quickly (in less than 10 seconds) to prevent the coil from burning.
  4. If the pinion moves out, everything is in order. If the pinion moves back, the hold-in circuit is open, replace the magnetic switch.
