Check Condition
- Engine Coolant Temperature: 80 - 95 °C (176 - 203 °F)
- Light, electric cooling fan and all accessories are off.
- Transaxle is in neutral [P or N range for A/T vehicles].
- Steering wheel is straight forward position.
- In case of using the Hi-Scan, connect the cable at DLC terminal as shown in figure and adjust the idle speed with it.
- In case of not using the Hi-Scan, perform the below procedure.
- Ground the ignition timing adjustment terminal with jump wire.
- Install the tachometer and timing light.
- Run the engine and let it idle.
- Check the basic ignition timing.
Basic ignition timing: 10° +/- 5° BTDC at idle
- To check idle speed, be sure stop grounding the ignition timing adjustment terminal.
- Let the engine idle for 2 minutes.
- Check the idle speed.
Idle speed: 700 +/- 100 RPM
NOTE:- The engine speed on a new vehicle driven less than 500 km (300 miles) may be 20 to 100 RPM lower than specification. But no adjustment is necessary because Idle Speed Control System adjusts automatically.
- If the engine stalls or the engine speed is low after the vehicle has been driven a distance of 500 km (300 miles) or more, It's possible there may be residue on the throttle plate. Refer to the THROTTLE BODY CLEANING .
