Idle Speed & Ignition Timing Check Procedures

Checking conditions; 

Engine coolant temperature is 80 to 95°C (176 to 205°F). Lights, electric cooling fan and all accessories are off. Transaxle is in neutral ("P" or "N" range for A/T vehicles). Steering wheel is straight forward position (Vehicles with power steering).

  1. Using the Hi-scan, connect the cable at DLC terminal as shown in figure.

  2. Ground the ignition timing adjustment terminal.
  3. Run the engine and let it idle.
  4. Check the basic ignition timing.

    Basic ignition timing: 10° +/- 2° BTDC (At idle)

  5. To check idle speed, be sure stop grounding the ignition timing adjustment terminal.
  6. Let the engine idle for 2 minutes.
  7. Check the idle speed.

    Idle speed : 700 +/- 100 RPM

NOTE: The idling speed is automatically regulated by the idle-speed control system. If not within the standard value range, refer to the (Basic idle speed adjustment)
