Idle Speed & Ignition Timing Check Procedures
Checking conditions;
Engine coolant temperature is 80 to 95°C (176 to 205°F). Lights, electric cooling fan and all accessories are off. Transaxle is in neutral ("P" or "N" range for A/T vehicles). Steering wheel is straight forward position (Vehicles with power steering).
- Using the Hi-scan, connect the cable at DLC terminal as shown in figure.
- Ground the ignition timing adjustment terminal.
- Run the engine and let it idle.
- Check the basic ignition timing.
Basic ignition timing: 10° +/- 2° BTDC (At idle)
- To check idle speed, be sure stop grounding the ignition timing adjustment terminal.
- Let the engine idle for 2 minutes.
- Check the idle speed.
Idle speed : 700 +/- 100 RPM
NOTE:
The idling speed is automatically regulated by the idle-speed control system. If not within the standard value range, refer to the (Basic idle speed adjustment)
