Charging System: Generator: Replacement

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal first, then the positive terminal.
  2. Temporarily loosen the water pump pulley bolts.

  3. Remove the generator drive belt (A), after loosening the adjusting bolt and mounting bolt. Refer to step  9.
  4. Remove the power steering pump belt (B). Refer to POWER STEERING OIL PUMP .

  5. Remove the water pump pulley.
  6. Remove the power steering pump.
  7. Remove the power steering pump bracket.
  8. Disconnect the generator connector (A), and remove the cable (B) from generator "B" terminal.

  9. Remove the adjusting bolt (A) and mounting bolt (B).
  10. Remove the generator brace (C).
  11. Pull out the through bolt (D) and then remove the generator (E).

  12. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  13. Pre-tighten the water pump pulley bolts.
  14. Adjust the power steering pump belt tension.
  15. Adjust the generator belt tension after installation. Refer to INSPECTION .
  16. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts.
