Repair procedures: Removal
- Remove the battery (A).
- Remove the intake air hose and air cleaner assembly.
- Remove the battery tray (A).
- Remove the ground wire by removing a bolt.
- Remove the clutch release cylinder assembly.
- Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor connector (A) and the back lamp switch connector (B).
- Remove the snap pin (A) and control cable bracket bolts (B-3ea).
- Remove the power pump hose bolt (A).
- Using the special tool (09200-38001), support the engine assembly safely.
- Remove the steering column shaft bolt. (refer to STEERING COLUMN - SHAFT )
- Remove the transaxle support bracket bolts (A-3ea).
- Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A-2ea) and the starter motor mounting bolt (B-2ea).
- Lifting up the vehicle.
- Remove the power steering return hose (A).
- Remove the under cover (A).
- Drain the transaxle fluid by removing the drain plug.
- Remove the front wheels and tires.
- Remove the lower arm ball joint mounting nut and the stabilizer link mounting nut from the front knuckles. (refer to FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM )
- Remove the side cover.
- Disconnect the drive shafts from the transaxle. (refer to DRIVESHAFT ASSEMBLY )
- Remove the front roll stopper mounting bolt (A).
- Remove the rear roll stopper mounting bolt (A).
- Disconnect the muffler hanger rubber (A).
- Supporting the sub frame (A) with a jack and the Special tool (09624-38000), remove the mounting bolts.(refer to GENERAL INFORMATION - SUSPENSION SYSTEM )
- Remove the transaxle lower mounting bolts (A).
- Remove the transaxle assembly by lifting vehicle.CAUTION: When removing the transaxle assembly, be careful not to damage any surrounding parts or body components.
