TECH TIP: POOR AM RADIO RECEPTION

SYMPTOM

Customer complains of poor AM radio reception.

REPAIR

Check for battery voltage at the roof antenna connector F04 with the radio ON. If you find battery voltage, replace the Roof antenna base. If you do not have battery voltage, inspect connector MF11 pin 30 for bent/loose/backed out terminals. If OK, check for voltage at pin 30 from the audio unit. If still no voltage, check at the back of the audio unit M41-A pin 18 for Navi or M26-A pin 18 for UVO. If no voltage at the back of the audio unit with the radio ON, replace the audio head unit.
