Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  2. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  3. Disconnect the solenoid valve connector (A) and inhibitor switch connector (B).

  4. Remove the wiring from the bracket (A, B).

  5. Remove the shift cable (C) after loosening the nut (A) and bolts (B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 9.8 ~ 13.7 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.4 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 10.1 lb-ft)
    2. 14.7 ~ 21.6 N.m (1.5 ~ 2.2 kgf.m, 10.9 ~ 15.9 lb-ft)

  6. Disconnect the hose after removing the ATF cooler hose clamp (A).

  7. Remove the ground line after loosening the bolt (A).

  8. Remove the CKP sensor (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    6.9 ~ 9.8 N.m (0.7 ~ 1.0 kgf.m, 5.1 ~ 7.2 lb-ft)

  9. Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 63.7 ~ 83.4 N.m (6.5 ~ 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 ~ 61.5 lb-ft)
    2. 32.4 ~ 49.0 N.m (3.3 ~ 5.0 kgf.m, 23.9 ~ 36.2 lb-ft)

  10. Remove the Cowl Top Cover.

    (Refer to Body - "COWL TOP COVER ")

  11. Assemble the Engine Support Fixture on the Engine Room.

    (Refer to Special Service Tools - "SPECIAL SERVICE TOOLS ")

  12. Remove the front wheel guard on the left side.

    (Refer to Body - "FRONT WHEEL GUARD ")

  13. Remove the Cover (A).

  14. Loosen the transaxle mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.8 lb-ft)

  15. Remove the transaxle support bracket (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    58.9 ~ 78.5 N.m (6.0 ~ 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 ~ 57.9 lb-ft)

  16. Remove the under cover and side cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  17. Remove the drive shaft assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")

  18. Remove the cover (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    9.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

  19. Remove the torque converter mounting bolts (A) by rotating the crankshaft.

    Tightening Torque: 

    45.1 ~ 52.0 N.m (4.6 ~ 5.3 kgf.m, 33.3 ~ 38.3 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Lubricant should be applied on thread of bolt before tightening.
    • Tighten the bolts loosely, and then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
  20. Remove the roll rod bracket (C) after removing bolts (A, B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 49.0 ~ 63.7 N.m (5.0 ~ 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 47.0 lb-ft)
    2. 107.9 ~ 127.5 N.m (11.0 ~ 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 ~ 94 lb-ft)

  21. Remove the roll support bracket (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    49.0 ~ 68.6 N.m (5.0 ~ 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 50.6 lb-ft)

  22. Remove the wiring bracket (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    42.2 ~ 49.0 N.m (4.3 ~ 5.0 kgf.m, 31.1 ~ 36.2 lb-ft)

  23. Support the transaxle safely by using the jack.
  24. Loosen the starter mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 49.0 ~ 63.7 N.m (5.0 ~ 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 47.0 lb-ft)

  25. Loosen the transaxle lower mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 39.2 ~ 46.1 N.m (4.0 ~ 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 ~ 34.0 lb-ft)
    2. 78.5 ~ 98.1 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

  26. After separating the transaxle from the engine, remove the transaxle by lowering the jack slowly.
    NOTE: Be careful not to damage other nearby systems or parts when removing the transaxle assembly.
