Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Remove the starter cover (A) after loosening the mounting bolt and nut.

    Starter cover mounting nut  :

    8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 Ib.ft)

  4. Disconnect the starter cable (B) from the B terminal on the solenoid, then disconnect the connector (A) from the S terminal.
  5. Remove the starter mounting bolts.

    Starter mounting bolt  :

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 Ib.ft)

  6. Remove the starter (A).
