Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "General Safety Information and Caution" before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to shut off the high voltage circuit according to the "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUTOFF PROCEDURE " before doing any work related with the high voltage system to avoid serious electrical injuries.
NOTE:
  • If DTC P1744 (engine clutch malfunction) and solenoid valve DTCs are indicated at the same time, replace the transaxle assembly.
  • Maintain clean condition so that foreign substance does not get into the automatic transaxle.
  • Use a coated apron, latex gloves, and stainless tray to prevent foreign substance from getting into the transaxle.
  1. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

    (Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUTOFF PROCEDURE ")

  2. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Remove the ATF drain plug (A), allow the fluid to drain out and then reinstall the drain plug.

    Tightening Torque 

    33.3 - 43.1 N.m (3.4 - 4.4 kgf.m, 24.6 - 31.8 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • The existing ATF drain plug gasket must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.)
    • ATF can be reused. Collect it in a clean beaker.
  4. Drain the coolant of engine & transaxle cooling system.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

  5. Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.

    (Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")

  6. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  7. Remove the hybrid power control unit (HPCU) assembly.

    (Refer to Hybrid Control System - "HYBRID POWER CONTROL UNIT ")

  8. Remove the HPCU tray (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    19.6 - 29.4 N.m (2.0 - 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 - 21.7 lb.ft)

  9. Disconnect the coolant hose (A).

  10. Disconnect the ATF cooler hose (A) and remove the ATF cooler pipe (C) by loosening the bolts (B, D).

    Tightening Torque: 

    (B) 41.2 - 47.1 N.m (4.2 - 4.8 kgf.m, 30.4 - 34.7 lb.ft)

    (D) 9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  11. Disconnect the breather hose (B) after removing the clamp (A).

  12. Remove the valve body cover (A) by loosening the bolts.

    Tightening Torque: 

    11.8 - 13.7 N.m (1.2 - 1.4 kgf.m, 8.7 - 10.1 lb.ft)

  13. Remove the main harness (C) and oil temperature sensor (B) after loosening the bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  14. Remove the solenoid valve support bracket (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  15. Remove the line pressure control solenoid valve (A).
