Description & Operation: Description
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) is located in the engine coolant passage of the cylinder head for detecting the engine coolant temperature.
- The thermistor of ECTS has a characteristic of Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC), which means temperature and resistance are inversely propotional to each other.
- The reference +5 V is supplied to the ECTS via a resistor in the ECM. That is, the resistor in the ECM and the thermistor in the ECTS are connected in series.
- To prevent the engine stop or hesitation during the cold start, the ECM calibrates the fuel injection amount and the injection timing based on the engine coolant temperature information.
