Rod Adjustment Procedure Flowchart
CAUTION:
To prevent burns due to the high heat, work when the temperature of the engine and the surrounding area is sufficiently low.
- Turn the IG OFF.
- Connect the KDS to the self-diagnosis connector (DLC).
- Turn the IG ON.NOTE: Do not start the engine. This is a crucial step to read the correct adaptation value.
- Without starting the engine, cycle the ignition ON for 5 sec. then ignition OFF for 5 sec. then check the "Adaption value for the low mechanical stop of Electric Waste Gate Actuator (EWGA)" on the KDS.
Voltage: 3.5 - 3.7 V
NOTE: Do not start the engine to measure an accurate value.Information
Refer to the KDS screen for operating conditions and details
- If the closed position voltage is not within the range of specified values, re-adjust the load length as shown below.
- Slightly loosen the lock nut (B) of EWGA rod (A).
- Remove the rod (A) after removing the retaining rings (B).NOTE: Be careful not to lose the retaining ring when removing it.
- Adjust the rod end to meet the specified value.
Adjustment Direction of Rod End Voltage Rod Length Clockwise (A) Rise Shorter Counter clockwise (B) Drop Longer The Length Changes According to the Rotation Angle of The Rod Changing Level of The Adaptation Value 180°: 0.5 mm (0.01 in.) About 0.1 V For example) The closed position voltage of the waste gate valve has detected as 3.4 V → turn the rod end 180 degrees clockwise to increase the voltage by about 0.1V.
- Slightly loosen the lock nut (B) of EWGA rod (A).
- Install the rod (A) to the turbocharger lever temporarily. Do not tighten the lock nut (B) but also not install the retaining ring.
- Check "Adaption value for the lower mechanical stop of EWGA" after selecting "Current Data" menu.
Turn the ignition ON/OFF repeatedly until the changing value of "Adaptation value for the lower mechanical stop of EWGA" is within 0.05 V.
NOTE: Maintain IG ON/OFF for 5 seconds each. - If the voltage value measured is not within the specified voltage value, repeat 5 - 7 procedures until the voltage value is within the specified voltage value.
- If it is within the specified voltage value, install the retaining rings (B) after tightening the lock nut (A).
