Test 1

Remove coil/distributor high tension lead from distributor cover and hold approximately 6 mm (0.25") from the engine block, using suitable insulated pliers. See Fig 1 . Switch the ignition ON and operate the starter. Regular sparking indicates fault in high tension distribution, plugs, timing or fuelling, proceed to TEST 6  . If no spark or weak spark occurs proceed to TEST 2  .
