Test 5

Remove existing coil/distributor high tension lead and fit test high tension lead to coil tower. See Fig 1 . Using suitable insulated pliers, hold free end about 6 mm (0.25") from the engine block and crank the engine. There should be good high tension sparking. If weak or no sparking, fit new coil, repeat test. If high tension sparking good, repeat test with original high tension lead. If sparking is good carry out TEST 6  . If weak or no sparking, fit new high tension lead, if engine will not start carry out TEST 6  .
