Bushings Test

NOTE: Soak new bushings in engine oil for thirty minutes before installing.

Install new bearing bushings if there is evidence armature magnets are clogged or dirty, or if there is perceptible side play between the shaft and bushing.
Drive end/intermediate end bracket: press out bushing using a suitable press and mandrel.
Press in new bushing. Ensure bushing is flush with casting on drive end bracket.
Commutator end bracket: thread a 9/16" Whitworth or suitable tap firmly into bushing. Extract bushing with tap using a power press in reverse.
