CAUTION: It is potentially hazardous if the memory store or recall is possible without parking brake applied or with the vehicle speed above 4 mph. The cause must be immediately investigated. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
NOTE: Memory position, store and recall is only possible when the following conditions apply: The driver's door is open or the ignition AUX or IGN; and the parking brake is applied; vehicle speed is less than 4 mph.
  1. If memory position recall/store is possible without parking brake applied (vehicle stationary), it is essential to check the following:
    • Parking brake signal to the ECU.
    • ECU.
  2. If memory recall is possible when vehicle speed is over 4 mph, regardless of parking brake position, it is essential to check the following:
    • Speed signal to the ECU.
    • Parking brake signal to the ECU.
    • ECU.
  3. Memory position store/recall function is inoperative when the parking brake is applied, check the following:
    • Parking brake signal to the ECU.
    • ECU.
