Service Precautions: Notes
- Turn ignition off before connecting or disconnecting any control module connectors.
- When cranking or idling engine, DO NOT disconnect ignition coil cable or spark plug cable.
- When performing an ignition spark test, check one spark plug at a time and ensure spark plug is grounded.
- When performing compression test, ensure ignition system is disabled.
- Vehicle security system is equipped with a battery back-up feature. Before disconnecting vehicle battery power, ensure vehicle security system is not armed.
- When vehicle battery power is disconnected or remote transmitter battery is replaced, the vehicle security system remote transmitter (handset) must be resynchronized.
- If the Engine Control Module (ECM) or vehicle security system Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is replaced with a different unit, the vehicle will not start until the ECM and ECU are resynchronized. The vehicle security system uses rolling code technology.
- All ignition keys are equipped with a transponder. If a replacement ignition key is needed, it may ONLY be obtained from a Land Rover or BMW dealer. If an attempt to use an ignition key with no transponder occurs, vehicle will not start.
- When vehicle battery power is disconnected, windows and sunroof will need to be calibrated.
