SERVICE INFORMATION

Symptom 000101 Diagnostic Concerns

ISSUE

Mongoose Pro JLR Vehicle Communication Interface Device (VCI) software requires updating to the latest level.

(The above actions will need to be completed on all SDD machines that use this device) 

ACTION

  1. Check the software driver level  of the Mongoose Pro JLR device.
  2. If the software driver level is below V1.1.12, complete these instructions:
    • Uninstall all Mongoose software.  (There maybe more than 1 listed).
    • Install software V1.1.12. 
  3. If the software driver level is V1.1.12, complete these instructions:
    • Make sure only one install of Mongoose JLR PRO  is listed in the Program list.
    • Make sure there is no install of Mongoose JLR  listed in the Program list.

Check Software Driver level: 

Windows 7 

  1. Press the Windows Key
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Select Programs.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. The Programs and Features control panel displays a list of software on your computer.
  6. Look in the list for - J2534 MongoosePro JLR. 
  7. Select J2534 MongoosePro JLR 
  8. Look in the title column 'Version' for the software driver level.
  9. If this is lower than V1.1.12 - go to - Step  8 of 'Uninstall MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR software. 
  10. If this is V1.1.12 - make sure no other installs of MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR are visible in the list.
  11. If other installs are visible in the list - uninstall this software - follow Steps  8 to  13 of 'Uninstall MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR software. 
  12. If there is only one install of J2534 MongoosePro JLR  and this is V1.1.12 close control Panel.

Windows XP 

  1. Press the Windows Key
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Select Add or Remove Programs.
  4. The Add or Remove Programs control panel displays a list of software on your computer.
  5. Look in the list for - J2534 MongoosePro JLR. 
  6. Select J2534 MongoosePro JLR. 
  7. Click on 'Click here for support information'
  8. This will pop up an information box stating the software Version level.
  9. If this is lower than V1.1.12 - go to - Step  7 of 'Uninstall MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR software. 
  10. If this is V1.1.12 - make sure no other installs of MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR are visible in the list.
  11. If other installs are visible in the list - uninstall this software - follow Steps  7 to  12 of 'Uninstall MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR software. 
  12. If there is only one install of J2534 MongoosePro JLR  and this is V1.1.12 close control Panel.

Uninstall MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR software: 

Windows 7 - Uninstall - MongoosePro JLR 

  1. Disconnect the VCI device from the SDD machine.
  2. Press the Windows Key
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs.
  5. Select Programs and Features.
  6. The Programs and Features control panel displays a list of software on your computer.
  7. Select J2534 MongoosePro JLR  or Mongoose JLR 
  8. Click the 'Uninstall' button. (This will now be displayed at the top of the programs list above - 'Name').
  9. A Programs and Features message box will be displayed.
  10. Click 'Yes'.
  11. Complete the on screen instructions.
  12. Repeat from step  7. If other Mongoose software are installed (including J2534 Toolboxes) - until all Mongoose software is uninstalled.
  13. Close the Programs and Features control panel.
  14. Restart SDD Machine.
  15. Go to 'Install Software V1.1.12'. 

Windows XP - Uninstall - MongoosePro JLR 

  1. Disconnect VCI from SDD machine.
  2. Press the Windows Key
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. Select the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
  5. The Add/Remove control panel displays a list of software on your computer.
  6. Select J2534 MongoosePro JLR or Mongoose JLR. 
  7. Click the 'Remove' button.
  8. Add and remove programs message box will be displayed.
  9. Select 'Yes'.
  10. Complete the on screen instructions.
  11. Repeat from step  6. If other Mongoose software are installed (including J2534 Toolboxes) - until all Mongoose software is uninstalled.
  12. Close the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
  13. Restart SDD Machine.
  14. Go to 'Install Software V1.1.12'. 

Install Software 1.1.12: 

Windows XP and Windows 7 

  1. Disconnect the VCI from SDD machine.
  2. Press the Windows Key
  3. Select All Programs.
  4. Select JLR.
  5. Select SDD.
  6. Select VCI Device Drivers.
  7. Select DrewTech Mongoose.
  8. Welcome to the MongoosePro JLR setup wizard
  9. Tick the box next to 'I accept the terms in the License Agreement'
  10. Click 'Install'.
  11. A Pop up box will appear 'Please attach your device to this computer any time after the installation has finished'.
  12. Click 'Ok' - do not connect the Mongoose device.
  13. Click 'Finish'.
  14. Restart the SDD machine.
  15. Connect the Mongoose device to the SDD machine.
  16. A pop up box will appear.
  17. Select 'Install the software automatically (Recommended)'.
  18. Click on 'Next'.
  19. Click 'Finish'.
  20. Check the software driver level is now V1.1.12.
  21. If this is now V1.1.12 - close all open windows.
  22. Use SDD machine as normal.
