ISSUE
When replacing some control modules, the related SDD candidate "Configure New Module - <module 'X'>" will progress through to completion without generating any error messages but SDD is unable to clear DTC's at the end.
Upon investigation the replacement module is setting programming or configuration related U2xxx or U3xxx DTC's with "permanent" status that cannot be cleared.
ADVICE
In some cases, this is because the Configure New Module routine on SDD is NOT checking the software levels in the replacement control module.
When this is the ONLY factor causing these DTC's to be set, using the Configure Existing Module - <module 'X'> can be used to update the control module software and clear these codes.
ACTION
If this situation is encountered and the advice provided above clears the U2xxx and U3xxx DTCs, please submit an EPQR referencing this SSM with session files attached.
If this advice is ineffective, immediately open a TA for additional support for control module replacement.
