Cooling Fan Control
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport and 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The automatic temperature control (ATC) module determines the amount of condenser cooling required from the refrigerant pressure, since there is a direct relationship between the temperature and pressure of the refrigerant. The cooling requirement is transmitted to the engine control module (ECM) in a medium speed controller area network (CAN) bus message. The engine control module (ECM) controls the condenser cooling using the cooling fan.
