Adaptive Speed Control Module (G2268885): Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that soft gloves are used during installation. Failure to follow this instruction may cause optical defects of the module.
    • The usage of aggressive cleaning agents is prohibited. Use glass cleaner and soft cloth to clean surfaces.
    • Install the electrical connector by hand only. Do not use any tool when installing the electrical connector.
    • Take extra care not to apply high forces during the electrical connector installation. Failure to follow this instruction may cause damage in the module.
    • Install the CCM  onto the bracket.
    • Secure the CCM  with the 3 clips.
    • Reposition the wiring harness into the correct position.
    • Connect the CCM  electrical connector.
  2. NOTE:
    • Make sure that the special tool is installed to the front of the CCM  , as it is shown in the illustration to check the alignment.
    • The CCM  has no mechanical horizontal or vertical adjustment.
    • If the alignment reading is not within tolerance, the vehicle may have accidental damage. Inspect the front end of the vehicle thoroughly and rectify any concerns.

Use the special tool to check the CCM  alignment. Refer to the specification.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

    Special Tool(s): 501-F007

  3. Install the front bumper cover.

Refer to: FRONT BUMPER - VEHICLES WITH: CORE SPECIFICATION

  4. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  5. NOTE:
    • The park brake icon may hide the follow icon until it is released.
    • The diagnostic tool may display the CCM  Service Alignment Status in Live Data. The percentage complete will increase quickly at first but my then take longer to reach the final 100%.
    • The alignment angles, CCM  Front Radar Horizontal Angle and CCM  Front Radar Vertical Angle, may be read in control computer (ECU) Diagnostics - CCM  - Live Data. Note that these values are stored in the CCM  system and will only be updated when the vehicle is driven. During normal driving, the adaptive cruise control system calculates the alignment angles continuously and automatically, but they will only change slowly. During Service Alignment mode the same calculation is modified to complete faster, though less accurate. After the Service Alignment completes, the continuous alignment will continue to refine the angles.
    • The alignment angles will be shown as 99.9° during Service Alignment. When the Service Alignment completes, the calculated angles will be shown in Live Data. If the angles are outside limits then the CCM  is still misaligned and the installation must be checked again.
    • Connect the Jaguar Land Rover diagnostic tool.

General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment

    • From the diagnostic tool menu, select: Service Alignment Mode.
    • If the CCM  is misaligned beyond the limits, the Service Alignment will complete but the adaptive cruise control system will still be in fault state. Therefore, confirm that any repair needed has been completed before starting the Service Alignment drive
    • The follow indicator will now be flashing, this indicates that the vehicle is in "service alignment" and now requires driving.
    • The vehicle speed must be above 25 mph (40 kph).
    • Choose a road with plenty of stationary objects, like street lights, road signs, barriers or parked cars. Use an inside or outside lane.
    • Following vehicles too closely will obscure the stationary objects from the radar, a time gap of 2 seconds is recommended.
    • A straight road will produce a quicker and better result, although the process will still operate on a curved road. Avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking.
    • When the flashing follow indicator light extinguishes, initial alignment is complete. The adaptive speed control system will continue to refine the alignment.
    • Check that the adaptive speed control can now be engaged.
    • If the CCM  can be engaged, no further driving is required.
    • If the CCM  can not be engaged, using the diagnostic tool, repeat the service alignment mode.

General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment

    • If the CCM  can still not be engaged after the second attempt, remove the front bumper and check the installation of the CCM  . Repeat step 5 when the installation has been corrected.
