Throttle Controls: Dashpot

  1. Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Ensure idle speed is 650 to 750 RPM on manual transmission or 600 to 700 RPM on automatic transmission.
  2. Using screwdriver, push dashpot rod in all the way and check dashpot setting speed. Engine speed should increase to 2200 to 3000 RPM on manual transmission or 1300 to 2100 RPM on automatic transmission.
  3. If dashpot setting speed is not as specified, adjust dashpot with adjusting screw and recheck dashpot setting. If dashpot still does not function properly, replace dashpot.
