Starter Relay
- On ES300, starter relay is located under instrument panel, above glove box. On LS400, starter relay is located in junction block No. 2 in left side of engine compartment. On GS300, SC300 and SC400, starter relay is located in engine compartment.
- Remove starter relay. On ES300, GS300, and LS400, use an ohmmeter and check for continuity between starter relay terminals No. 1 and 3. On SC300 and SC400, use an ohmmeter and check for continuity between starter relay terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 1 and Fig 2. If continuity is not present, replace relay.
- On ES300, GS300, and LS400, ensure no continuity is present between relay terminals No. 2 and 4. On SC300 and SC400, ensure no continuity is present between relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
- On ES300, GS300, and LS400, apply battery voltage between relay terminals No. 1 and 3. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between relay terminals No. 2 and 4. On SC300 and SC400, apply battery voltage between terminals No. 1 and 2. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is not present, replace relay.
