Anti-Lock Brake System: Description

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) controls brake fluid pressures to each individual front brake caliper and rear brake calipers during a panic stop to prevent wheel lock-up. System consists of actuator, solenoid relay, pump motor relay, Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and a speed sensor at each wheel. If a system fault occurs, the ECU stores a self-diagnostic code(s) that can be retrieved to diagnose malfunction. See Fig 1.
