Low Coolant Temperature

  1. Ensure coolant temperature is less than 181°F (83°C). Turn ignition on. If cooling fans do not come on, go to next step. If cooling fans come on, check for faulty cooling fan system components or wiring. See ELECTRIC COOLING FANS article.
  2. Turn A/C on. Ensure compressor clutch is engaged and refrigerant high-side pressure is at least 220 psi (15.5 kg/cm2 ). If cooling fans come on at low speed, perform high coolant temperature test. If cooling fans do not come on at low speed, check for faulty cooling fan system components or wiring.
