Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION (EGR) Valve
Start engine and allow it to idle. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose to EGR valve. Connect a vacuum pump to EGR valve. Apply vacuum. If engine idles rough or stalls, EGR valve is functioning properly. If engine does not idle rough or stall, check for plugged EGR port or defective EGR valve. Repair as necessary.
- Closing Pintle
Ground terminal S4 with one jumper wire and terminal S3 with other jumper wire. Keep terminal S3 grounded. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal S4 and connect it to terminal S2. Keep terminal S2 grounded. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal S3 and connect it to terminal S1. Keep terminal S1 grounded. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal S2 and connect it to terminal S4. Continue to follow this sequence until pintle is closed.
- Opening Pintle
Ground terminal S1 with one jumper wire and terminal S2 with other jumper wire. Keep terminal S2 grounded. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal S1 and connect it to terminal S3. Keep terminal S3 grounded. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal S2 and connect it to terminal S4. Keep terminal S4 grounded. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal S3 and connect it to terminal S1. Continue to follow this sequence until pintle is closed.
