Speed Sensor Signal Check

NOTE: When using LEXUS Hand-Held Tester, follow scan tool instructions and start at step 2).
  1. Turn ignition off. Using jumper wire, connect DLC1 connector terminals Ts and E1. See Figure.
  2. Start engine. ABS light should blink once every .13 second. If ABS light does not blink, check ABS light circuit. See ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT under CIRCUIT TESTS . Check Ts circuit. See Ts TERMINAL CIRCUIT under CIRCUIT TESTS.
  3. Keep vehicle stationary on level ground with brake pedal released for one second or more. Press brake pedal with 33 lbs. (15 Kg) force for one second or more. Release brake pedal, then press brake pedal with 22 lbs. (10 Kg) force and release. ABS light should come on for 3 seconds.
  4. Drive vehicle straight ahead at 28 MPH or greater for several seconds, until ABS light goes out. Stop vehicle. Using another jumper wire, connect DLC1 connector terminals Tc and E1. There should now be 2 jumper wires. See Figure.
  5. Observe ABS light. If system is normal, ABS light will blink every .25 second. If system is malfunctioning, ABS light will flash codes. See SPEED SENSOR DIAGNOSTIC CODE IDENTIFICATION . Repair as needed. Turn ignition off. Remove jumper wires from DLC1 connector.
