Traction Control System: Description

Lexus Traction Control System (TRAC) controls engine torque and braking of driving wheels. TRAC is available as an option. TRAC system consists of sub-throttle actuator, accumulator, pump, wheel speed sensors, ABS/TRAC ECU, TRAC ECU or throttle valve motor driver, relays, solenoids, motor relay, TRAC cut switch, light indicator and warning switch. See Fig 1, Fig 2 or Fig 3 .

Integrated with ABS system, TRAC helps avoid slippage of driving wheels during acceleration. System maintains optimal driving control during changing road surface conditions upon acceleration. System eliminates need for acceleration pedal operation and improves vehicle stability when starting, accelerating or turning on slippery roads.

NOTE: For more information on ABS system, see ABS article.
