Armature Test
- Ensure continuity exists between all segments of commutator. Ensure continuity does not exist between commutator and armature coil core. If continuity is not as specified, replace armature. If commutator diameter does not meet minimum specification, replace armature. See appropriate STARTER OVERHAUL SPECIFICATIONS table under STARTER SPECIFICATIONS .
- If commutator runout exceeds maximum specification, turn commutator on a lathe. If depth of mica undercut does not meet minimum specification, use a hacksaw blade to remove mica from between segments.
