Power Window Inoperative When Using Master Switch

  1. Turn ignition on. If master switch illuminates, go to next step. If master switch does not illuminate, check for defective fuse, main relay or open ground circuit. Repair as necessary.
  2. Attempt to operate driver's window. If window operates, go to step  5. If window does not operate, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect driver's power window motor harness connector. Using DVOM, check power and ground circuits at vehicle side of harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  4. Remove driver's power window regulator assembly. Attempt to operate power window. If power window operates, replace window regulator assembly. If power window does not operate, replace power window motor assembly.
  5. Attempt to operate passenger windows from master switch. If any power window except driver's side operates, go to next step. If no power windows operate, replace master switch.
  6. Attempt to open or close inoperative power window using individual window switch at door of inoperative power window. If power window operates, replace master switch. If power window does not operate, go to next step.
  7. Remove window switch from door of inoperative power window. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Blue wire) for front passenger window or terminal No. 5 (Blue wire) at rear passenger switch harness connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  8. Check power window switch. See PASSENGER'S SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace if necessary. If window switch is okay, go to next step.
  9. Check master switch. See MASTER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace if necessary. If master switch is okay, replace power window motor assembly.
