Deceleration Sensor
NOTE:
Air bag sensor assembly may also be referred to as center air bag sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Remove deceleration sensor. Sensor is mounted on air bag sensor assembly under front of center console. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Connect 3 "D" cell batteries in series, creating 4.5 volts. Connect VGS terminal of deceleration sensor to positive (+) side of batteries. See Fig 1. Connect GGND terminal to negative (-) side of batteries.
- Measure voltage between terminal GL1 and ground, or between terminal GL2 and ground while tilting deceleration sensor as specified. See DECELERATION SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure sensor is within specifications. If voltage is not as specified, replace sensor.
