Deceleration Sensor

NOTE: Air bag sensor assembly may also be referred to as center air bag sensor.
  1. Turn ignition off. Remove deceleration sensor. Sensor is mounted on air bag sensor assembly under front of center console. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Connect 3 "D" cell batteries in series, creating 4.5 volts. Connect VGS terminal of deceleration sensor to positive (+) side of batteries. See Fig 1. Connect GGND terminal to negative (-) side of batteries.
  2. Measure voltage between terminal GL1 and ground, or between terminal GL2 and ground while tilting deceleration sensor as specified. See DECELERATION SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure sensor is within specifications. If voltage is not as specified, replace sensor.
