Charging Systems: Charging: Generator: Removal

  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET. 
  3. REMOVE DRIVE BELT.  Loosen the belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise, and remove the dive belt.
    NOTE: The tensioner pulley bolt has a left-hand thread.

  4. REMOVE PS PUMP PULLEY.  Using SST (SST 09960-10010, 09962-01000, 09963-01000), remove the nut and PS pump pulley.

  5. REMOVE ALTERNATOR 
    1. Disconnect the generator connector.
    2. Remove the rubber cap and nut, and disconnect the generator wire.
    3. Disconnect these parts:
      1. Disconnect ground cable.
      2. Disconnect wire (for generator wire) from clamp on cord clip.
      3. Disconnect wire (for generator connector) from clamp on cord clip. Take out the vinyl tape, and disconnect the wire from the cord clip.
      4. Disconnect PS oil hose from No. 1 oil pan.

    4. Remove the nut, bolt, stay and generator.
    5. Remove the 2 clamps from the cord clips on the generator.
