Seat Belt: Replacement

NOTE:
  • Installation is in the reverse order of the removal. But, the installation indicated only when it has a point.
  • In the RH side, work in the same procedure as in the LH side.
  • See the components' drawing of front seat belt in COMPONENTS .
  1. SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the front seat assembly. (See OVERHAUL )
    2. Remove the front seat cushion inner shield. (See OVERHAUL )
    3. Remove the nut and front seat inner belt.
  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE COVER 

    (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

  5. REMOVE WIND DEFLECTOR BOARD ASSY 

    (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

  6. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE 

    (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

  7. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY 

    (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

  8. REMOVE REAR SEAT BACK ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  9. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSY LH 

    (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 

  10. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSY FRONT LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and floor anchor.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the front seat belt hole.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Remove the 4 screws and clip.
    4. Using a screwdriver, pry out the quarter trim panel assembly front.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and shoulder anchor.
    2. Disconnect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE: When removing the seat belt pretensioner, operation must be started after 90 seconds has passed from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and front seat outer belt.
  12. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Check the degree of tilt when beginning to lock the ELR
      1. Make sure that the belt cannot be pulled out by over 45 degrees of tilt.
      NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
    2. Install the retractor side with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 

      Upper side: 7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) 

      Lower side: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    3. Install the shoulder anchor with the bolt.

      Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the floor anchor with the bolt.

      Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    5. Check the ELR lock.
      1. Check that the seat belt is locked when the seat belt is pulled out quickly with the seat belt installed with the vehicle.

  13. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 

    Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
