Shift Cable: Removal

  1. Separate negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove transfer shift lever knob. See Figure.
  3. Remove gearshift lever knob. See Figure.
  4. Disengage 3 clips and remove console upper panel garnish No. 2. See Figure.
  5. Disengage 4 clips and remove console upper panel garnish No. 1. See Figure.
  6. Disengage 11 clips and remove console upper panel then disconnect connectors. See Figure.
  7. Separate shift cable using the following steps:
    1. Remove nut and clip to separate shift cable from transmission. See Figure.
    2. Remove clip, separate shift cable from gearshift lever assembly. See Figure.
  8. Remove 4 nuts and pull out shift cable. See Figure.
