Power Window Control System: Inspection
- INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY LH
- Inspect operation of the power window regulator motor (for driver side door).NOTE:
- Be sure not to apply the battery voltage to terminals 2, 5 and 6 of the power window regulator motor assembly LH connector, because it might damage the pulse sensor and the limit switch.
- Be sure to reset the power window regulator motor assembly (to the initial setting of the limit switch) when the power window regulator motor assembly LH is installed to the regulator.
- Check that the motor operates smoothly when the battery voltage is applied to each terminal of the connector.
Standard:
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (DRIVER SIDE DOOR)Measuring Condition Operational Direction Battery positive < - > terminal 4
Battery negative < - > terminal 1Clockwise Battery positive < - > terminal 1
Battery negative < - > terminal 4Counterclockwise - Inspect operation of the PTC inside the power window regulator motor.NOTE: Be sure that the power window regulator and door glass are installed to the vehicle before inspection.
- Set electrical tester DC400A probe to the wire harness of terminal 1 or 4.NOTE: Match the arrow mark of the probe with the current direction.
- Fully close the door glass.
- When approximately 60 seconds have elapsed after the door glass has been fully closed, check the changing time of the current, from 16 - 34 A into 1 A, when the power window regulator master switch is pulled UP furthermore (inspection of current cut-off).
Standard: Approximately 4-90 seconds
- When approximately 60 seconds have elapsed after the inspection of the current cut-off, check that the door glass goes down when the power window regulator master switch is pushed DOWN.
- Set electrical tester DC400A probe to the wire harness of terminal 1 or 4.
- Inspect operation of the power window regulator motor (for driver side door).
- INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY RH
- Inspect operation of the power window regulator motor (for passenger side door).NOTE:
- Be sure not to apply the battery voltage to terminals 2,5 and 6 of the power window regulator motor assembly RH connector, because it might damage the pulse sensor and the limit switch.
- Be sure to reset the power window regulator motor assembly (to the initial setting of the limit switch) when the power window regulator motor assembly RH is installed to the regulator.
- Check that the motor operates smoothly when the battery voltage is applied to each terminal of the connector.
Standard:
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (PASSENGER SIDE DOOR)Measuring Condition Operational Direction Battery positive < - > Terminal 4
- Close the door glass fully.
- When approximately 60 seconds have elapsed after the door glass has been fully closed, check the changing time of the current, from 16 - 34 A into 1 A, when the power window regulator switch is pulled UP furthermore (inspection of current cut-off).
Standard: Approximately 4-90 seconds
- When approximately 60 seconds have elapsed after the inspection of the current cut-off, check that the door glass goes down when the power window regulator switch is pushed DOWN.
- Set electrical tester DC400A probe to the wire harness of terminal 1 or 4.
- Inspect operation of the power window regulator motor (for passenger side door).
- INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY
- Check the continuity (for passenger side door).
- Check the continuity between the terminals of the connector when the switch is operated.
Standard:
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (PASSENGER SIDE DOOR)Switch Operation Measuring Condition Specified Condition UP AUTO 1 < - > 8 < - > 3 Continuity UP MANUAL 1 < - > 8 Continuity OFF - - DOWN MANUAL 6 < - > 8 Continuity DOWN AUTO 3 < - > 8 < - > 6 Continuity - Check the illumination.
- Check that the switch illumination (light emitting diode) comes on when the battery positive terminal is connected to terminal 8 of the connector and the battery negative terminal is connected to terminal 4.
- Check the continuity (for passenger side door).
- INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY
- Check the continuity of the power window switch.
- Check the continuity between the terminals of the connector, when the switch is operated.
HINT:
- Mark "< - >" means that continuity exists
- Mark"-->" means that approximately 4 k Ω diode exists.
Standard:

Standard:
DOOR CONTROL SWITCH DIAGNOSTIC TABLESwitch operation Tester connection Specified condition LOCK 8 < - > 10 Continuity OFF - - UNLOCK 18 < - > 10 Continuity - Check the window lock switch and illumination.
- With the window lock switch at NORMAL, connect the battery positive terminal to terminal 6 and the battery negative terminal to terminal 10 of the connector. Then, check that the illuminations of the switches (light emitting diode) come on and that there is battery voltage at terminal 7.
- With the window lock switch at LOCK, check that the illuminations of the window switch for the driver side window and door control switch only come on and that the voltage at terminal 7 is 0 V.
- Check the continuity of the power window switch.
