Body & Frame: Windows: Windshield: Removal
HINT:
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart, (see SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS )
- REMOVE FRONT PART OF FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIMS
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the bolt.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish.
- Remove the bolt.
- Pack the airbag with protection cover.
- Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish cover.
- w/o Sliding roof:
- REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY
- Using a molding remover, remove the lens.
- Remove the 2 screws and the map light assembly, then disconnect the connectors.
- w/Sliding roof:
- REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY
- Using a molding remover, remove the cover.
- Remove the 2 screws and the map light assembly.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE SUN VISORS
- Remove the 2 screws and sun visor, then disconnect the connector.
- Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
- REMOVE SUN VISOR HOLDERS
Remove the 2 screws and sun visor holders.
- REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front assist grip covers.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the 2 bolts and assist grip.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front assist grip covers.
- REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR
- Using a screwdriver, remove the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- w/electro chromic inner mirror:
Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the mirror assembly by turning the stay part of the mirror counterclockwise.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover.
- REMOVE WIPER ARMS
- Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 wiper arm head covers.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the 2 nuts and 2 wiper arms.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 wiper arm head covers.
- REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
- Remove the hood to cowl top seal.
- Remove the 2 clips and cowl top ventilator louver.
- PULL DOWN FRONT PART OF ROOF HEADLINING
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOLDING
- Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in Fig 8
.NOTE: Do not damage the body with the knife.
- Remove the remaining molding.
- Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in Fig 8
.
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS
- Push piano wire through between the body and glass from the interior.
- Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
- w/Front window defogger:
Disconnect the connector.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the wire harness. - Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior ornaments. To prevent scratching the safety pad when removing the windshield, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.
HINT:
Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.
- Remove the glass.
NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.
