Throttle Body ASSY (3MZ-FE): Replacement

  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See  ENGINE COOLANT (3MZ-FE)  ) 
  2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Using a socket hexagon wrench 5, remove the 3 nuts.
    2. Remove the V-bank cover.

  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET NO. 2 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR 
    1. Remove the ventilation hose No. 2.
    2. Remove the fuel vapor feed hose from the 2 hose clamps.
    3. Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp bolt, and then remove the intake air resonator.

  6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the throttle motor connector.

    2. Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 2.
    3. Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 3.
    4. TMC Made
      1. Remove the 4 bolts, and then remove the throttle body.

    5. TMMWV Made
      1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and then remove the throttle body.

    6. Remove the gasket from the intake air connector.
  7. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the intake air connector.
    2. TMC Made
      1. Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts.

        Torque: 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf) 

    3. TMMWV Made
      1. Install the throttle body with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

        Torque: 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf) 

    4. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 3.
    5. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 2.
    6. Connect the throttle motor connector.
  8. INSTALL INTAKE AIR RESONATOR 
  9. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET NO. 2 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  11. CHECK CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSE (See step 178 in  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  12. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See  ENGINE COOLANT (3MZ-FE)  ) 
  13. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (See  COOLING SYSTEM (3MZ-FE)  ) 
  14. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Fit the 2 retainers and install the V-bank cover.
    2. Using a socket hexagon wrench 5, tighten the 3 nuts.

      Torque: 7.9 N.m (81 kgf.cm, 70 in.lbf)
