Throttle Body ASSY (3MZ-FE): Replacement

  1. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 
  2. REMOVE RADIATOR LOWER AIR DEFLECTOR (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  4. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BRACE CENTER (W/O TEMS) 
    1. Remove the 4 nuts, then remove the front suspension upper brace center and 4 spacers.
    2. Temporarily tighten the 4 nuts.

  5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Using a socket hexagon wrench 5, remove the 3 nuts.
    2. Unfasten the 2 retainers, then remove the V-bank cover.

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.
    2. Disconnect the 4 vacuum hoses.
    3. Disconnect the ventilation hose No. 2.
    4. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose from the 2 hose clamps.
    5. Loosen the 2 air cleaner cap bolts.
    6. Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp bolt, then remove the air cleaner cap.
    7. Remove the air cleaner filter element.

  7. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the throttle motor connector.
    2. Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 2.
    3. Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 3.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts, then remove the throttle body.
    5. Remove the gasket from the intake air connector.

  8. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the intake air connector.
    2. Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts.
      1. Torque: 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf) 
    3. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 3.
    4. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 2.
    5. Connect the throttle motor connector.
  9. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSY 
    1. Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in..lbf) 
  10. CHECK CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSE (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  11. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 
    1. Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in..lbf) 
  12. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See  ENGINE COOLANT (3MZ-FE)  ) 
  13. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (See  COOLING SYSTEM (3MZ-FE)  ) 
  14. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Fit the 2 retainers, then install the V-bank cover.
    2. Using a socket hexagon wrench 5, tighten the 3 nuts.
      1. Torque: 7.9 N.m (81 kgf.cm, 70 in..lbf) 
  15. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BRACE CENTER (W/O TEMS) 
    1. Torque: 80 N.m (816 kgf.cm, 59 ft.lbf) 
  16. INSTALL RADIATOR LOWER AIR DEFLECTOR 
  17. SYSTEM INITIALIZATION (See  CHARGING SYSTEM (3MZ-FE)  )
