Engine Control System (3UZ-FE): ECM: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (  2  ) 
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (  4  ) 
  4. REMOVE ECM COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and ECM cover.

      NOTE:
      • Make sure there is no water on or around the ECM cover.
      • Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain.
      • Prevent water from contacting the ECM's connectors and screw areas.
  5. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Disconnect the wire harness.
      1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the 2 connector holders.
      2. Disconnect the 5 ECM connectors.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM from the ECM box.
