On-Vehicle Inspection
- CHECK THROTTLE BODY
- Check the throttle control motor for operating sound.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Depress and release the accelerator pedal repeatedly. Check the running sound of the motor. Also, check that there is no friction sound.
If the operation is not as specified, check the throttle control motor, wiring and ECM (see DTC P2118: THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL MOTOR CURRENT RANGE/PERFORMANCE ).
- Check the throttle position sensor.
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Check that the MIL does not illuminates.
- Check that the throttle valve opening percentage (THROTTLE POS) of the CURRENT DATA shows the standard value.
Standard throttle valve opening percentage: 60% or more
If the operation is not as specified, check the throttle control motor wiring and ECM.
- Check the throttle control motor for operating sound.
- CHECK ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- After turning the ignition switch ON, check that the accelerator pedal position sensor voltage in the CURRENT DATA shows the standard value.
Standard voltage: 0.6 to 1.0 V
If the result is not as specified, replace the accelerator pedal position sensor.
- CHECK CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSY
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Start the engine and warm it up.
- Select VVT from the ACTIVE TEST menu.
- Check the engine speed when the OCV is operated by the hand-held tester.
OK:
CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSY SPECIFIED CONDITIONCondition Specified Condition VVT system is OFF (OCV is OFF) Normal engine speed VVT system is ON (OCV is ON) Rough idle or engine stalled
