Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was LEAN or RICH, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. INSPECT FUSE (ETCS)
    1. Remove the ETCS fuse from the engine room No. 1 R/B.
    2. Measure the resistance of the fuse.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω

  2. READ DATA LIST (+BM VOLTAGE)
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ALL / +BM.

      Standard: 9 to 14 V

    1. OK: See  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
    2. NG: Go to next step.
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECM - ETCS FUSE - BATTERY)
    1. Remove the ETCS fuse from the engine room No. 1 R/B.
    2. Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard:
