Inspection Procedure

HINT:

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
    3. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / OBD / MOBD / ECT / DATA LIST.
    4. Check the value displayed on the tester when the engine switch is turned on (IG) and the engine is started.

      OK 

      ENGINE SWITCH CONDITION AND STARTER SIGNAL REFERENCE

      Engine Switch Condition ON (IG) ENGINE START
      STARTER SIG OFF ON

    OK: Go to step  3

    NG: Go to Next Step 

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the Park / Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
      1. Disconnect the B36 switch connector.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

        Gear Selector Lever Position Tester Connection Specified Condition
        P 4 - 5 Below 1 Ω
        N 4 - 5 Below 1 Ω
      3. Reconnect the PNP switch connector.

    NG: REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    OK: CHECK CRANKING HOLDING FUNCTION CIRCUIT  (See CRANKING HOLDING FUNCTION CIRCUIT )

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the B40 switch connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is P or N position.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      8 - 10 Below 2 V
    3. Connect the B40 switch connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE TCM (See  REMOVAL   )
