Brake Actuator: Removal

  1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  11. PERFORM ACCUMULATOR PRESSURE ZERO DOWN  (See BLEEDING )
  12. SET BRAKE CONTROL OFF 
    NOTE:
    • Prohibit the brake control certainly before air bleeding.
    • Be sure to remove the 2 ABS motor relays first, then the brake actuator.
    1. With the power switch OFF to prohibit brake control, remove the 2 ABS motor relays.
      NOTE: If the pump motor operates with air remaining inside the brake actuator hose, the air will enter the actuator and cause resulting in difficulty in air bleeding.

  13. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  14. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, wash or remove it completely.
  15. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  16. DISCONNECT ENGINE ROOM NO. 3 RELAY BLOCK 
  17. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL LH 
  18. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH ACTUATOR BRACKET 
    1. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake tubes from the actuator.

      SST 09023-00101 

    2. Remove the clip and No. 1 reservoir tube.

    3. Use tags or make a note to identify the places to reconnect.

    4. Using SST, disconnect the No. 1 and No. 2 brake tube.

      SST 09023-00101 

      NOTE: Do not damage the No. 1 and No. 2 brake tube.

    5. Release the lock lever and disconnect the actuator connector.
    6. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and brake actuator with bracket.
      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tubes.
