Front Speed Sensor: Removal
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
CAUTION:
When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.
- TURN POWER SWITCH OFF
- Turn the power switch OFF, and check that the "READY" indicator turns off.
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
- DISCONNECT CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the connector from the front speed sensor LH.NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
- Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.
- Disconnect the connector from the front speed sensor LH.
- DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DISC (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (see REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
- Install the 3 hub bolts. Placing an aluminum plate below the hub and bearing, hold them in a vise.NOTE: Replace the hub and bearing if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
- Using a pin punch (3 mm) or hammer, remove the 2 pins from the SST (09520-00031) and separate the attachment (09521-00010).
SST 09520-00031
- Using SST and 2 bolts (90101-12007), remove the sensor from the hub and bearing.
SST 09520-00031 (09520-00040), 09521-00020, 09950-00020
NOTE:- Keep the sensor away from magnets.
- Pull the sensor off straight, taking care not to make contact with the sensor rotor.
- If the sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the hub and bearing assembly.
- Do not scratch the area where the sensor contacts the hub and bearing.
- Do not attach foreign matter to the sensor rotor.
