Automatic Transmission Assembly: Installation
- INSTALL TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
- Install the torque converter clutch to the automatic transmission.
- Using calipers and a straight edge, measure dimension A between the engine and the end surface of the drive plate.
- Using calipers and a straight edge, measure the dimension B and check that B is greater than A measured in (b).

Standard: A + 1 mm (0.03937 in.) or more
- INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING REAR INSULATOR

- Install the No. 1 engine mounting rear insulator and 4 bolts to the automatic transmission.
Torque: 65 N*m (663 kgf*cm, 48 ft.*lbf)
- Install the No. 1 engine mounting rear insulator and 4 bolts to the automatic transmission.
- INSTALL TRANSFER ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET

- Install the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket with 2 bolts.
Torque: 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)
- Install the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket with 2 bolts.
- INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
- Install the automatic transmission and 10 bolts to the engine.
Torque: 17 mm head
71 N*m (720 kgf*cm, 53 ft.*lbf)
14 mm head
37 N*m (380 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
- Install the 6 torque converter clutch mounting bolts.
Torque: 48 N*m (490 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)
HINT:
First install black colored bolt and then the 5 bolts.

- Install the automatic transmission and 10 bolts to the engine.
- INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER

- Install the flywheel housing under cover and bolt.
Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)
- Install the flywheel housing under cover and bolt.
- CONNECT WIRE HARNESS
- Install the wire harness with the bolt.
Torque: 8.0 N*m (83 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
- Install the wire harness with the bolt.
- INSTALL TRANSFER BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

- Install the transfer breather hose sub-assembly.
HINT:
The breather hose bracket is tightened together with the transmission housing.
- Install the transfer breather hose sub-assembly.
- CONNECT CONNECTOR
- Connect the speed sensor SP2 connector.
- Connect the transmission wire connector.
- Connect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
- Connect the temperature sensor connector.
- Connect the speedometer sensor connector.
- Connect the indicator No. 1 switch connector. (Low)
- Connect the indicator No. 2 switch connector. (Neutral)
- Connect the indicator No. 3 switch connector. (Diff. lock)
- Connect the transfer shift actuator connector. (with transfer shift actuator)
- INSTALL NO. 3 FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

- Install the No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly with 4 bolts and 4 nuts.
Torque: 72 N*m (734 kgf*cm, 53 ft.*lbf)
- Install the No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly with 4 bolts.
Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)
- Install the No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly with 4 bolts and 4 nuts.
- CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Install the nut and clip on the transmission control cable assembly.
Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
- Install the nut and clip on the transmission control cable assembly.
- INSTALL NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE
- Temporarily install the No. 1 oil cooler outlet tube.
- Temporarily install the No. 1 oil cooler inlet tube.
- Install the 2 clamps and 2 bolts.
Torque: 5 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 43 in.*lbf)
- Using SST, tighten the No. 1 oil cooler outlet tube.
Torque: 34 N*m (346 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf)

- INSTALL NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET TUBE

- Using SST, tighten the No. 1 oil cooler inlet tube.
Torque: 34 N*m (346 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf)

- Using SST, tighten the No. 1 oil cooler inlet tube.

- Install the front suspension member bracket LH with 4 bolts.
Torque: 33 N*m (336 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf)
- Install the front suspension member bracket LH with 4 bolts.

- Install the front suspension member bracket with 4 bolts.

- Using needle nose pliers, install the transfer high and low shift lever assembly with snap ring.
HINT:
Apply MP grease to the transfer shift lever.
- INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY
- INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
- INSTALL NO. 1 CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
- INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the shift lever knob on the shift lever.
- Install the floor shift lever knob on the shift lever.
- ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

- RESET MEMORY NOTE: Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) when replacing the automatic transmission assembly, engine assembly or ECM (See MANUAL SHIFTING TEST ).
HINT:
RESET MEMORY cannot be completed by only disconnecting the battery terminal.
