Engine Control System - Service Information & Circuit Tests: ECM: Installation

  1. INSTALL ECM 
    1. Install the ECM with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the 6 ECM connectors.

  2. INSTALL TCM 
    1. Install the TCM with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the 4 TCM connectors.

  3. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER 
    1. Install the engine room ECU cover with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)

  4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER (See  INSTALLATION   ) 
  6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  7. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. PERFORM RESET MEMORY 
    NOTE: Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) when replacing the automatic transmission assembly, engine assembly or ECM (see PRECAUTION ).

    HINT:

    Initialization cannot be completed by only removing the battery.

  9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
