Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK ECUS CONNECTED TO CAN BUS 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and push the tester main switch ON.
    3. Check the ECUs connected to CAN bus (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      No malfunction appears A
      Malfunction appears B

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK DTC (ALL) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and push the tester main switch ON.
    3. Check for DTCs.

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Condition Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      CAN system DTC is output B
      LIN system DTC is output C

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM )

    C: GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION (ACTIVE TEST) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and push the tester main switch ON.
    3. Enter the following menus:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / BODY / METER / ACTIVE TEST.
      2. Techstream - Select: Body / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    4. Check the condition of the pattern select indicator light by operating the tester.

        METER

      2. Techstream

        Combination Meter 

        COMBINATION METER TESTER DISPLAY REFERENCE

        Indicat. Lamp ECT PWR Pattern select indicator light (PWR)/ ON or OFF -
        Indicat. Lamp ECT SNOW Pattern select indicator light (SNOW)/ ON or OFF -

        OK: Indicator light turns on or off according to the tester operation. 

    NG: GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK SWITCH SIGNAL (NO. 1 CONSOLE SWITCH DATA LIST) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and push the tester main switch ON.
    3. Enter the following menus:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / BODY / CENTER CONSOLE / DATA LIST.
      2. Techstream - Select: Body / Center Console Switch / Data List.
    4. Read the value displayed on the tester.

        CENTER CONSOLE 

        CENTER CONSOLE TESTER DISPLAY REFERENCE

        ECT PWR SW Pattern select switch (PWR) status/ ON or OFF Pattern select switch (PWR) is:
        • ON: Pushed
        • OFF: Not pushed
        		 -
        ECT SNOW SW Pattern select switch (SNOW) status/ ON or OFF When turning engine switch on (IG): OFF
        ↓
        Pattern select switch (ECT SNOW) is:
        Pushed: ON
        ↓
        Pattern select switch (ECT SNOW) is:
        Pushed again: OFF        		 -
      2. Techstream

        Center Console Switch 

        CENTER CONSOLE SWITCH TESTER DISPLAY REFERENCE

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        ECT Power Mode Switch Pattern select switch (PWR) status/ ON or OFF Pattern select switch (PWR) is:
        • ON: Pushed
        • OFF: Not pushed
        		 -
        ECT Snow Mode Switch Pattern select switch (SNOW) status/ ON or OFF When turning engine switch on (IG): OFF
        ↓
        Pattern select switch (ECT SNOW) is:
        Pushed: ON
        ↓
        Pattern select switch (ECT SNOW) is:
        Pushed again: OFF        		 -

        OK: On tester screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to switch operation. 

    NG: REPLACE NO. 1 CONSOLE SWITCH 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. REPLACE TCM 
    1. Replace the TCM (see REMOVAL  ).

    NEXT: PERFORM AT REGISTRATION (See  REGISTRATION   )
