Inspection Procedure

HINT:

When using the intelligent tester, start from *1. When not using the intelligent tester, start from *2.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER (ABS MOTOR RELAY)*1 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, generate a control command, and then check that the ABS motor relay operates.

      Skid control ECU: 

      DATA LIST

      Item Vehicle Condition / Test Details Diagnostics Note
      ABS MOT RELAY Turn ABS motor relay ON / OFF Operation sound of motor can be heard

      OK: Operation sound of ABS motor is heard. 

    NG: Go to step  3

    OK: Go to Next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR)*2 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  3. CHECK ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK (ABS MTR 1 RELAY AND ABS MTR 2 RELAY)*2 
    1. Remove the ABS MTR 1 relay and ABS MTR 2 relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the voltage between terminal 1 of the engine room relay block (for ABS MTR 1 relay and ABS MTR 2 relay) and body ground.

      OK: 

      Standard voltage: 

      10 to 14 V 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to Next step 

  4. INSPECT RELAY (Marking: ABS MTR 1, ABS MTR 2) 
    1. Remove the ABS MTR 1 relay and ABS MTR 2 relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance of the relay.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 Below 1 Ω (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 3 and 4)

    NG: REPLACE RELAY

    OK: Go to Next step 

  5. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR 
    1. Disconnect the A43 and A44 actuator connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the actuator.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A43-2 (BM1) - A44-7 (MTT) 30 to 36 Ω
      A44-3 (BM2) - A44-7 (MTT) 30 to 36 Ω

    NG: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR

    OK: Go to Next step 

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (BRAKE ACTUATOR - SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY AND ABS MTR 1 AND ABS MTR 2 RELAY) 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
