Inspection Procedure
- CHECK FOR DTC
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Check that the VSC OFF indicator light turns on.
- Check for DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR
).
Result
RESULT CHARTResult Proceed to DTC is not output A DTC is output B
B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT
A: Go to Next Step
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER (VSC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT)
- Using the intelligent tester's ACTIVE TEST, generate a control command and then check that the VSC OFF indicator light operates.
Skid control ECU

OK: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
NG: Go to Next Step
- Using the intelligent tester's ACTIVE TEST, generate a control command and then check that the VSC OFF indicator light operates.
- INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH
- Remove the VSC OFF switch.
- Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Pushed Below 1 Ω 1 - 2 Released 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPLACE VSC OFF SWITCH
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (VSC OFF SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU AND BODY GROUND)

- Disconnect the V7 switch connector.
- Disconnect the S6 ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition S6-12 (CSW) - V7-2 Below 1 Ω S6-12 (CSW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher V7-1 - Body ground Below 1 Ω
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR CONNECTION
- Check that each ECU connector is properly installed.
OK: Each ECU connector is properly installed.
NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY
OK: Go to Next Step
- Check that each ECU connector is properly installed.
- READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (IG VOLTAGE)
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the IG voltage.
Skid control ECU

NORMAL: 10 to 14 V

- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the IG voltage.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

- Disconnect the S5, S7 and S8 ECU connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard voltage
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition S7-6 (IG1) - S5-16 (GND4) 10 to 14 V S7-6 (IG1) - S5-22 (GND3) 10 to 14 V S7-6 (IG1) - S8-6 (GND2) 10 to 14 V S7-6 (IG1) - S8-31 (GND1) 10 to 14 V S7-6 (IG1) - Body ground 10 to 14 V - Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER)
- Check for open and short circuits in the multiplex communication system between the skid control ECU and combination meter.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK COMBINATION METER (VSC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT)
- Check the combination meter (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER
OK: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
