Front Speed Sensor: Removal

HINT.

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  3. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the front speed sensor wire from the front speed sensor.
  4. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT SPEED SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )

  7. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Install 3 hub nuts to the hub bolts. Hold the front axle hub sub-assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
      NOTE: Replace the hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
    2. Using SST, remove the front speed sensor from the front axle hub sub-assembly.

      SST 09520-24010, 09950-00020, 09950-00030 

      NOTE:
      • Keep the sensor away from magnets.
      • Pull the front speed sensor off straight, taking care not to make contact with the speed sensor rotor.
      • If the speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the front axle hub sub-assembly.
      • Do not scratch the area where the speed sensor contacts the front axle hub sub-assembly.
      • Do not allow foreign matter to attach to the speed sensor rotor.
